The 4-D Theatre presents a show of Mowgli’s 4D Jungle Adventure that includes popular and friendly animal characters like Baloo and Bagheera along with Mowgli. This children’s classic by Rudyard Kipling runs for 10 minutes and has new characters added to it. The theatre opens daily from 10.30 am and closes approximately an hour before the Zoo’s closing time.

The botanical section of the zoo is enormous and houses an extensive collection of aloes, bamboos, orchids, coral trees and palms. Numerous gardens like the Orchid Odyssey, the Fern Canyon and the Monkey Trails fall under this category. Several bus tours like Coral Trees Botanical Tour, Cycads Botanical Tour and Carnivorous Plants Botanical Tour are also arranged by the Zoo for the better experience and understanding of the guests.

This 35 minute long trip on these wheelchair friendly double decker buses, takes the tourists on an interesting journey of the grounds. This service starts at 9 am from the entrance of the Zoo and ends approximately an hour before the closing time of the place. It is also included within all the San Diego Zoo discount tickets.

Pamper your kids with fun activities and memorable experiences at the play areas of the San Diego Zoo. There are 4 play areas available, first of which is Trees of Dreams, which is a section that houses an ancient moss - covered Oak tree and a rope bridge. Then there is the Polar Play Area, which focuses on polar bears and their natural habitat, with the next Elephant Play Yard consisting of an open air exploration space with puzzles.

Learn facts about the animals at the Zoo from the wildlife care specialists with your tickets to the San Diego zoo. The special talk about Polar Bears and their care and conservation takes place daily at noon at the Polar Bear Plunge. A similar talk about giraffes and their conservation is held at the Urban Jungle Giraffe Habitat daily from 3.30 pm.

The Zoo hosts a number of presentations on Wildlife that educates the visitors about the animals. The Africa Rocks Encounter at Africa Rocks Stage gives the tourists a chance to meet the wildcare specialists whereas the Rady Ambassador Presentation Area includes introductions to reptiles and their caretakers. The Care Specialists of Wildlife Wonders introduce the guests to ambassadors of the conservation work of the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance.

The Kangaroo Bus is a non - guided bus service that allows tourists to board the bus at their own convenience from any of the 4 stops on the Zoo grounds. This wheelchair friendly transport is included in all the San Diego Zoo discount tickets.

One of the best activities you can try with your tickets to the San Diego zoo is Skyfari Aerial Tram. It consists of a trip from the boarding point to the other end of the Zoo while experiencing the serene views of the San Diego Zoo and the Balboa Park.

This four minute ride on a small scale train takes its passengers on a journey around Balboa Park and even though it is located outside the exit of the Zoo, the train is maintained by the San Diego Zoo. This fun activity is available only on the weekends and on holidays.

This one hour long interactive activity comprises meeting the animals as the wildcare specialists bring them out for a close view. The spectators can also observe and learn how the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is saving the animal kingdom through their work. This activity takes place at the Urban Jungle on selected days.

This 90 minute tour around the Zoo premises, in a guided deluxe cart and by foot involves seeing some of the most mesmerising wild cats of the animal kingdom. Tourists can also meet one of the cats and that can be a jaguar, lion, tiger, mountain lion, fishing cat, leopard or ocelot depending on availability during the tour.

The Discovery Cart Tour includes an interactive session with an experienced tour guide for 60 minutes. During this drive visitors learn about the work of the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and how it is creating a change in the environment. This entry ticket for this activity is not included in the San Diego Zoo ticket and has to be bought separately.

The Early Morning Cheetah Experience is one of the major highlights that you can see with your San Diego Zoo ticket. This activity includes being in close proximity of the Cheetahs in the supervision of wildlife behaviour specialists. This 90 minute cart drive also takes the spectators to the areas that are not open to the public.
